The Fafnir Bearing Company was established in New Britain, Connecticut in 1911 by Howard S. Hart. It mission was to manufacture quality but less expensive ball bearings than those supplied by German and English firms. By 1985, the company had become a division of Textron. Textron sold it off in 1985 to the Torrington Company. In 1998, Torrington sold the division to Timken.
FAFNIR bearings are renowned for their high quality and distinctive style.
