MRC History
MRC Bearing Services is the outgrowth of three of America’s oldest bearing companies – Standard Roller Bearing Company, Gurney Ball Bearing Company, and Strom Bearing Company. These companies individually and when combined contributed immensely to the advancement of bearing technology. Most notably included was the development of 52100 steel, a high carbon high chrome alloy steel that greatly improved bearing life; the development of duplex bearings – a matched pair of counterbored bearings – which were a major contribution to the accuracy of high speed machine tool spindles; and the manufacture of filling slot radial ball bearings along with innovative engineering service provided to customers, “to aid in proper choice of ball bearings, their use, and guidance for mounting and maintenance.”MRC became a manufacturer of over 7,000 varieties of ball bearings. Single row deep groove ball bearings (conrad style), single row filling-notch ball bearings (maximum capacity), single row angular contact ball bearings, single row split inner ring bearings, double row angular contact ball bearing, precision, mounted units & specialty bearing products. Ball bearings also include angular contact, deep groove, pillow block, self aligning, thin section in various precision grades, inch & metric dimensions, and bearings for pump applications.MRC has a wealth of technical expertise and nearly 100 years’ experience in solving ball bearing related application challenges. In addition to the standard products, MRC can also supply non-standard and modified standard bearings for special applications through the MTO (Made-to-Order) program.
