Lovejoy Couplings & Universal Joints — U.S. Export Sourcing

Coupling requirements fail on incomplete designations more often than on availability. Send the full coupling designation, hub bore, keyway, and insert material, and H&H will review what can be sourced through established U.S. sourcing channels and quoted for export.

Overview

Lovejoy products and how H&H sources them

A Lovejoy coupling is almost never a single part number. A jaw coupling is two hubs and an elastomer element, each ordered separately, and each carrying its own bore, keyway, and material detail. Requirements that arrive as one designation with no bore information cannot be quoted without a return question.

Replacement work adds a second layer of difficulty, because the element usually fails long before the hubs. Buyers frequently need only the insert, in a specific durometer or material, for a hub set installed years earlier and no longer marked legibly.

H&H quotes the coupling components you specify, in the bores and materials you state. Coupling selection, torque rating, misalignment capacity, and interchangeability with an installed unit remain the responsibility of the buyer or its engineering authority.

Independent sourcing, not authorized distribution
H&H Exports is an independent U.S. export sourcing and procurement company. We do not claim authorized distributor status for Lovejoy, and all brand names and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. Items may be available through established U.S. sourcing channels, confirmed per requirement.
Product types

Lovejoy product types H&H may be able to source

The groups below describe the kinds of Lovejoy items international buyers most often ask H&H to review. They are not an inventory listing — availability, lead time, country of origin, export eligibility, documentation, commercial terms, and specifications are confirmed against your exact part number, quantity, and destination.

Elastomeric couplings

  • Jaw couplings and jaw coupling hubs
  • Spider inserts and elastomer elements in various materials
  • S-Flex couplings and replacement sleeves
  • Torsional and torsionally soft couplings

Metallic couplings

  • Grid couplings and grid elements
  • Gear couplings and gear coupling sleeves
  • Coupling covers, seals, and hardware

Universal joints and shaft components

  • Universal joints in single and double configurations
  • Bore, keyway, and set-screw hub variants
  • Replacement hubs and coupling spares
Part identification

Sourcing against your exact Lovejoy part number

Every quotation is built from the part number you supply. H&H does not select, substitute, or approve components on the buyer's behalf — submit your exact part number for review and we will confirm what can be sourced.

Where information is missing, we will come back with a specific question rather than quote an assumption. Photographs, nameplate images, and datasheets all help.

  • Send the complete coupling designation including size and type — a size alone does not define the coupling.
  • State the required hub bore for each hub, and whether the bore is finished, pilot, or rough.
  • Give the keyway dimensions and standard, and state whether a set screw is required.
  • For inserts, state the material or durometer required; where the original is unknown, describe the operating conditions instead.
  • Provide the shaft diameters at both driving and driven ends, and note the coupling type installed if the requirement is a replacement.
  • H&H does not approve coupling selection or confirm interchangeability with an installed unit; that assessment remains with the buyer's engineering authority.
Common complications

What most often delays Lovejoy quotations

Most quoting delays are information problems rather than sourcing problems. The points below are the ones H&H most often has to go back to buyers about on Lovejoy requirements — addressing them in your first message usually removes a full round trip.

  • A coupling size sent without bore or keyway detail, which is the most common reason a line cannot be priced.
  • Insert material requested as the same as before, when the original is unmarked and no operating detail is given.
  • Mixed metric shaft and inch coupling requirements where the bore standard is not stated.
  • Requests to confirm that a coupling will fit a competitor unit — H&H cannot make that determination.
  • Element-only orders that omit the coupling type, making the correct element impossible to identify.

International procurement

Exporting Lovejoy requirements from the United States

H&H works with buyers outside the United States who need U.S.-sourced parts delivered to their own facility, customer, or project site. Read more about the broader process on international procurement, our capabilities, and global shipping and export destinations.

  • Destination country is confirmed at enquiry stage because it determines documentation and routing.
  • Coupling hubs are dense for their size; freight is quoted on actual weight and packed dimensions.
  • Country of origin and available certification are confirmed per item at the time of sourcing.
  • Bored-to-size hubs may involve additional processing time, which is stated in the quotation rather than assumed.
Consolidation

Combining Lovejoy lines with other manufacturers

Most requirements H&H receives are not single-brand. Combining lines into one enquiry means one quotation, one purchase order, and — where eligible — one consolidated shipment. See multi-vendor consolidation and export documentation coordination.

  • Hubs, elements, and hardware for one drive can be reviewed and quoted as a single requirement.
  • Coupling lines combine well with bearing, belt, and chain requirements on the same maintenance RFQ.
  • Consolidation gives one quotation, one purchase order, and one export document set for the whole drive package.
FAQs

Lovejoy sourcing questions

Can H&H supply only the elastomer insert?
Yes, provided the coupling type and size are identified. The insert alone cannot be determined from a shaft size.
Will H&H confirm that a coupling suits my torque and speed?
No. H&H quotes what you specify. Coupling selection, torque capacity, and misalignment tolerance are engineering decisions that remain with the buyer.
Can hubs be supplied bored and keyed to my shaft?
Bore and keyway requirements are reviewed per requirement. State the exact dimensions and standard and the response will confirm what can be sourced.
