Mechanical Power Transmission Sourcing

Couplings, gear and speed reducers, chain, sprockets, sheaves, belts, bushings, and universal joints — sourced by manufacturer part number through U.S. channels and coordinated for international shipment.

Category overview

How mechanical power transmission requirements are handled

Power transmission requirements usually arrive as a drivetrain problem rather than a single part: a reducer has failed, a coupling element has torn, or a chain and sprocket set is worn beyond service. Buyers outside the United States often need several of these lines quoted together, from more than one manufacturer, on one commercial document.

This category is dimension-sensitive in a way that catalogs alone cannot resolve. Bore and keyway, ratio, frame or size designation, belt profile, and chain pitch each change the item being quoted. Where a component was bored to order at installation, the original catalog number will not describe what is actually mounted on the shaft.

H&H sources exactly what you specify. We do not size a reducer for a load, select a coupling for a torque requirement, or determine which belt profile a drive should use — those remain engineering decisions for the buyer or its engineering authority.

Independent sourcing, not authorized distribution
H&H Exports is an independent U.S. sourcing, procurement, consolidation, and export-support company. We do not claim authorized-distributor status for the brands named on this page, do not hold fixed inventory, and do not publish prices or lead times. All trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
What we source

Major product groups

Couplings and shaft connections

  • Jaw, grid, gear, and disc couplings
  • Elastomeric coupling elements and inserts
  • Universal joints and drive shafts
  • Shaft collars, keys, and locking assemblies
  • Taper bushings and QD-style bushings

Gearing and reducers

  • Worm gear reducers
  • Helical and bevel-helical reducers
  • Shaft-mount and screw-conveyor drives
  • Speed reducers and gearmotor assemblies
  • Replacement gear sets and reducer components

Belt and chain drives

  • V-belts, banded belts, and synchronous belts
  • Sheaves and timing pulleys
  • Roller chain and attachment chain
  • Engineered and conveyor chain
  • Sprockets, idlers, and chain couplings
  • Chain tensioners and take-up components

These groups are a starting point, not a limit. Sourcing is driven by the manufacturer and part number you supply, so requirements outside this list are welcome.

Part identification

What each line item should include

Every quotation is built from the information you supply. Exact part numbers, suffixes, configurations, specifications, quantities, end use, and destination can all affect what can be sourced and whether it is eligible for export.

Submit your exact part numbers for review — H&H does not select, substitute, or approve components on the buyer's behalf.

  • Manufacturer and exact catalog or part number
  • Bore diameter and keyway dimensions (including whether bored to order)
  • Reduction ratio and output speed for reducers
  • Frame, size, or unit designation as marked on the nameplate
  • Shaft dimensions and mounting orientation
  • Belt profile, length, and number of ribs or strands
  • Chain pitch, strand count, and attachment style
  • Coupling size, element material, and hub configuration
  • Quantity, destination country, and required delivery window
Common complications

What most often delays mechanical power transmission quotations

Most quoting delays on this category are information problems rather than sourcing problems. Addressing the points alongside in your first message usually removes a full round trip.

  • Bore and keyway omitted, so the quoted item cannot be finished correctly
  • Nameplate data unreadable on an installed reducer, with no ratio supplied
  • Coupling requested by size alone when the element material and hub bores differ
  • Belt described by measured length instead of the marked profile designation
  • Chain requested without pitch or strand count
  • Assembly quoted when only a replacement element or component was needed

Dedicated sourcing pages relevant to this category

Brand names are used only to identify the items buyers describe. Sourcing channels are confirmed per requirement, and H&H does not disclose upstream suppliers.

Consolidation

Multi-manufacturer requirements on one quotation

International buyers rarely need only one brand. A single RFQ can combine several manufacturers in this category with lines from other categories, coordinated by one U.S.-based team. See Multi-Vendor Consolidation for how eligibility is determined.

  • One multi-line RFQ can span several manufacturers within and beyond this category.
  • Eligible lines are combined into a single commercial quotation and, where practical, one export-ready shipment.
  • One U.S. point of contact for revisions, lead-time follow-up, and documentation questions.
  • Consolidation eligibility depends on readiness dates, packing requirements, and destination.
Export support

Documentation and origin considerations

  • Commercial invoice and packing list prepared from the part numbers and quantities you confirm.
  • Country of origin is reported only as documented by the supplying source — H&H does not assign or certify origin.
  • Export eligibility can depend on the exact part number, configuration, end use, end user, and destination country.
  • Destination-country import duties, standards, and clearance requirements remain the buyer's responsibility.
Boundaries and buyer responsibility
H&H Exports does not select or engineer replacement drive components. Ratio, torque capacity, service factor, belt or chain selection, and coupling suitability must be determined by the buyer or its engineering authority. We do not claim fixed inventory, guaranteed lead time, or authorized distribution for any brand named on this page.
RFQ workflow

How a requirement moves through H&H

1. Send your requirement

Submit manufacturer, part number, quantity, and destination on the RFQ form. The category is carried through with your request.

2. Sourcing investigation

Our U.S. team investigates each line through established channels and returns clarifying questions where needed.

3. Commercial quotation

Eligible lines are presented on one quotation with the commercial terms applicable to your destination.

4. Consolidation and export

On order, compatible items are consolidated and documentation is prepared for shipment.

FAQs

Common questions

Can you quote a reducer if the nameplate is unreadable?
Send photographs, the equipment make and model, mounting configuration, shaft dimensions, and the known ratio if any. We will investigate, but the buyer confirms the final selection.
Do you supply components bored and keyed to size?
Where the source supports it, machining to a specified bore and keyway can be quoted. Provide the exact dimensions and tolerance requirement with the RFQ.
Can belts, chain, and couplings be quoted on the same RFQ?
Yes. Multi-manufacturer drive BOMs are a routine request and are quoted on one commercial document where possible.
Will you tell me which belt or coupling to use?
No. H&H is a sourcing and export-support company, not an engineering firm. Selection remains with the buyer or its engineering authority.
